Dining in the elegant restaurants and dining venues is a high point of every Fred. Olsen cruise. There are deliciously-tempting dishes – expertly crafted by the chefs – on offer throughout the day, presented with the personal touch of Fred. Olsen’s famous on board service.
At the heart of the dining experience on board Borealis are Aurora & Borealis, the ship’s elegant and spacious two-tiered main restaurants.
At these venues, delicious five-course, á la carte menus of dishes expertly created, prepared and cooked by a team of chefs are served every evening, whilst dedicated, attentive waiters take care of you. Menus are updated daily and include everything from steaks and seafood to freshly-made soups, pasta and salads. Plus, there are beautiful homemade breads, made overnight in the on board bakery, to enjoy too.
You could opt for flexible dining during your time on Borealis, which allows you the freedom to dine at these venues at any time in the evening, or choose to dine at the same time allocated to you for each evening on your cruise.
For a more intimate dining experience, guests can book a table at Borealis’ Indian Ocean Room and enjoy the same five-course á la carte menu of delicious dishes served in the ship’s main, two-tiered restaurants, but in a smaller, Indian Ocean-themed venue.
This welcoming and cosy, yet spacious and comfortable venue is a wonderful place in which to indulge with sumptuous dinners, as well as tasty breakfasts and lunches, whilst enjoying ocean views through the large picture windows and the company of loved ones, friends or perhaps a few fellow guests.
With no formal dress code or set tables, a light, open and welcoming feel and beautiful views of the ocean provided by its large windows, Borealis’ The View restaurant is the perfect venue for relaxed, buffet-style dining.
The View is open throughout the day, so whether you’re preparing for, or returning from, a busy day ashore, or enjoying a day at sea, you can come and go as it suits you and eat whatever takes your fancy. Delicious breakfasts, lunches, afternoon teas and dinners are laid out as the most generous buffet and served to you by the crew. And, when you are feeling peckish in the late evenings, you’ll find The View is open for a delicious late night buffet and bedtime snacks too.
The Poolside Café, situated close to the swimming pool and Jacuzzis on Lido Deck 8, provides you with a relaxed, al fresco dining experience to enjoy during your days on board.
You’ll find there are plenty of delicious, tempting dishes on offer; perhaps tuck into a perfectly cooked burger or fish and chips, or something light such as a Caesar salad or a ploughman’s plate.
Colours & Tastes restaurant offers modern Asian Fusion dishes which are a real talking point on board Borealis.
Book a table and experience a real flavour of Asia in the colourful yet intimate restaurant, where the mood is cheerful, and the food offers a stimulating set of new taste experiences.
The talented chefs offer classic dishes and unique delicacies from Japanese, Thai, Chinese and Fillipino cuisines, including spiced grilled meats, seafood, dim sum and sushi.

Vasco (named after the famous explorer Vasco Da Gama who was the first European to reach India by sea) offers a fresh and modern take on Indian food.
The menu has been inspired by chefs from Goa and focuses on the unique culinary traditions of that area – a place where the tastes of Europe first met the tropical warmth and spices of western India.
Here you can enjoy delicious sea-food, spiced curries and grilled meats, all cooked fresh and to authentic recipes by the Goan chefs.
The bright colours and feel of the restaurant have also been inspired by the warmth and richness of the Goan tradition.
