Their team of Journey Planners change the itineraries every year. Follow in the footsteps of Phileas Fogg as they sail around the world in 80 days, or in 2024, join them as we arrive at the perfect time to watch the fascinating bird migration cross the Straits of Gibraltar. And their Captains will always navigate to show you local wildlife or beautiful scenery along the way.
Their Norwegian heritage and knowledge of the beautiful coastline also means no one can show you the fjords quite like they can.
As a result, they have won Cruise Critic’s award for best itineraries 5 years in a row.
They are incredibly proud of our fleet of 3 ships; Bolette, Borealis, and Balmoral. Never sailing with more than 1,200 guests on board, each has been elegantly designed and they all look and feel like ships (not hotels or holiday resorts); with wide open deck spaces as well as lounges and restaurants which have been meticulously planned to ensure you have a wonderful experience.
The smaller size of their ships also allows them access to more interesting places, such as Norway’s lesser-known Fjords as well as European cities with narrow waterways and size-restricted bridges. It also means they can dock in the heart of some of the world’s most fascinating cities.
Founded by three Olsen brothers in 1848, they have 175 years of maritime history. They still consider themselves one big family, so each and every member of their team takes your experience personally. As a result, they are very proud to welcome back more returning guests than any other cruise line.

In 2022 they launched five new Signature experiences on board their ships, this is another area where they differ from other cruise lines.
On every sailing, these experiences have been designed to ensure you get the most out of the culture and nature of the destinations you are visiting – from their ‘Treats of the Region’ sessions where you can enjoy a taste of the destinations on your cruise to their Sky at Sea star-gazing sessions where you can relax with a hot toddy while their astronomer talks you through the night sky.

Proudly bearing the name of the wife of one of the original founding brothers – Petter Olsen, Bolette harbours an historic connection to the Olsen family. Exuding classic, elegant style in her exterior and interior design, and featuring spacious and comfortable public areas, as well as just 690 cabins, their flagship vessel leads their fleet of smaller ships by example.
Thanks to her ability to cruise at higher speeds than other ships, Borealis – sister ship of their flagship Bolette – is perfectly suited for sailing longer voyages across the globe.
Cruising faster means she can include more stops, scenic discoveries and highlights into each itinerary.
Beautiful Balmoral is small enough to navigate Europe’s most picturesque waterways so guests can enjoy hours of scenic cruising.
Balmoral retains a warm, civilised atmosphere and features comfortable accommodation, stylish restaurants and plenty of open-deck space, including an al-fresco restaurant.
